Jaden and Lynette
Mom: Hey, Jaden.
Jaden: Hey, Mom.
Mom: What’s up?
Jaden: Not much.
Mom: How are you doing?
Jaden: I’m alright. Just out here shooting.
Mom: Is everything okay? You’ve been out here a while.
Jaden: Yeah, I just needed a couple of minutes of quiet time, honestly.
Mom: I understand. It was a lot between you and Bethany.
Jaden: It was. It was kind of embarrassing.
Mom: I know. I’m sorry. I can’t apologise enough for that. I really am sorry.
I take accountability for my part in it.
Jaden: I mean, it’s in the past. What’s done is done.
But with both of you coming up here, I wanted nothing but peace and love. And it turned into the complete opposite.
Mom: I know.
Jaden: It’s hard to move past that. Kaylee and I have talked about this for a while, and this is exactly what we didn’t want to happen. That’s why I needed to step away for a bit.
Mom: I understand. I really regret that it happened. But the events leading up to it… I can’t ignore those either.
She was poking at me when nobody was looking, making sly remarks. I had just had enough. She needs to understand she can’t go around attacking people. That’s not okay.
Jaden and Lynette Talking about Bethany
Jaden: I don’t blame you. And I’ll take your side, right or wrong. I won’t address it in front of other people.
But since it’s just you and me, I’ll tell you honestly how I feel.
Mom: And I appreciate that.
Jaden: I appreciate your apology. It was just a lot. I don’t want anything to happen to you. I don’t want you facing backlash or repercussions, especially with Bethany pressing charges and everything.
Mom: Pressing charges? What do you mean? Where did you hear that?
Jaden: I talked to Brooke this morning. It’s pretty common knowledge. I asked her if she wouldn’t mind speaking to Bethany.
Mom: You don’t need to do that. I appreciate where you’re coming from — you mean well — but I can handle this. I’ve got it. Bethany doesn’t instill fear in me.
Jaden: It’s not about fear. I just don’t want something like this happening again. Whether we like it or not, she’s part of Dad’s family. She’s his wife.
Mom: And that’s exactly why it’s taken this long for me to confront her about her disrespect over the years. This didn’t just come out of nowhere. I’ve turned the other cheek for a long time.
I just couldn’t anymore. But I’ve got this. You don’t need to worry. Everything will be okay. Bethany is going to have to learn to act accordingly.
Jaden: It doesn’t have to happen again. I just want you to be the bigger person. Let her sit in her own mess.
Mom: I have been the bigger person for many years. How much can one person take?
Jaden: For Kenai’s sake, just take it easy. I don’t want him around this kind of drama.
Mom: I understand. I hear you. I respect your wishes, and I’ll continue to maintain my composure.
Jaden: Thanks, Mom.
Mom: You’re welcome. I love you.
Jaden: I love you too.
Mom: And don’t be putting your hands on people like that again.
Jaden: You know that’s not me. I don’t do that. That’s not what it looked like.
