THE WARNING
Lynette paced in her living room, phone pressed tightly against her ear.
LYNETTE: Larry, I’m telling you straight—if Bethany goes with you to Montana, you are responsible for everything that happens. One wrong move, it’s on you.
LARRY: I know, Lynette. She’s an adult… she’ll behave.
LYNETTE: Adult? You know her better than that! If she ruins anything, I won’t forgive it.
THE ALERT
Meanwhile, miles away, Brooke’s phone buzzed. Sharra’s message appeared, urgent and unnerving.
SHARRA: Brooke, Larry and Bethany are going to Montana.
BROOKE: Are you serious? Does Lynette know?
SHARRA: She does. But if Bethany goes, it won’t just be a family problem—it could spiral. You might have to step in.
Brooke’s stomach tightened. She knew the stakes; Montana was supposed to be controlled, orderly. Bethany threatened that.
THE JOURNEY
Larry drove cautiously, glancing at Bethany, whose excitement contrasted his tension.
LARRY: Are you ready for Montana?
BETHANY: Of course! Don’t worry, I won’t cause trouble.
Larry knew better. “No trouble” could easily become a catastrophe. The landscape changed from city streets to wide-open plains, a beauty he could barely appreciate with worry gnawing at him.
THE ARRIVAL
They reached the cabin as the sun dipped behind towering pines. The lake shimmered, peaceful, serene—but Larry sensed hidden challenges.
BETHANY: It’s perfect! Just look at this place!
LARRY: Yes… but we have responsibilities. Stay focused.
Bethany’s mischievous grin suggested she already had her own plans, and Larry felt a knot tighten in his chest.
THE WATCHERS
Back home, Lynette and Brooke monitored the unfolding situation, discussing every potential misstep.
LYNETTE: Larry better handle her properly. If Bethany causes trouble, it won’t be small—it’ll be a mess.
BROOKE: I’ll be ready. I just hope Larry knows what he’s getting into.
The tension stretched across miles. Montana’s serene vistas couldn’t mask the looming chaos that could erupt at any moment.
THE EDGE OF CHAOS
Night fell, painting the cabin in shadows. Larry checked the schedule, his mind racing through contingencies. Bethany explored the cabin, occasionally glancing his way with playful curiosity.
BETHANY: Don’t worry, Larry. I’ll be on my best behavior.
Larry exhaled slowly. Montana’s beauty was deceptive. He knew one wrong choice from Bethany, and everything Lynette warned about could come crashing down.
The mountains loomed silently outside, the lake reflecting a sky now heavy with stars. Yet inside, tension simmered—one spark could ignite chaos, and Larry was already wondering if he had the control to prevent it.
