Bethany Uncovers Their Secret

A quiet house. Two people whispering. One woman about to hear something that changes everything.

INT. LIVING ROOM – NIGHT

The room is still. The TV hums softly in the background.

BETHANY

(standing in the doorway, uneasy)

Something doesn’t feel right…

She sees LARRY and BROOKE sitting close together, whispering. They jump when they notice her.

LARRY

(calm, practiced)

Bethany… we need to talk.

BETHANY

(arms crossed)

About what?

The tension grows. Brooke looks at Larry nervously.

BROOKE

(soft, unsure)

It’s… about tomorrow. About where we’re going.

Bethany feels her chest tighten.

BETHANY

Go on.

Larry looks away.

LARRY

We’re… we’re not coming back for you, Bethany.

We’re staying at Sharra’s place. For a while.

Bethany freezes, shocked.

BETHANY

(quiet, shaking)

You’re kidding.

Brooke looks down.

BROOKE

We’re not. It’s better this way… for everyone.

Bethany’s hands shake as the truth hits her.

BETHANY

Better for who? You two? Sharra?

What about me?

Larry shifts uncomfortably.

LARRY

We thought it would be easier if we—

BETHANY

(interrupting, voice cracking)

Easier?! You mean you’re leaving me!

Brooke winces. Larry tries to respond, but Bethany keeps going.

Bethany thinks of all the times she waited up for them, worried for them, helped them. Now it all feels pointless.

BETHANY

(backing away)

I trusted you. Both of you.

I thought we were a team.

Brooke’s eyes fill with tears.

BROOKE

Bethany, please… it’s complicated.

BETHANY

Complicated?!

You lied to me. I didn’t see it before, but I do now.

Larry stands and reaches out.

LARRY

Bethany

She pulls away.

BETHANY

Don’t.

Just leave me alone.

She paces, angry and shaking.

Her phone BUZZES.

A message from Sharra: “See you tomorrow 😏.”

Bethany’s face hardens.

She looks at them, voice calm but cold.

BETHANY

slow, steady

You made your choice.

And choices… have consequences.

They stare at her, speechless.

Bethany walks toward the hallway.

EXT. HOUSE – NIGHT

The street is quiet. Too quiet.

Bethany stands in the doorway, eyes full of hurt and anger.

BETHANY

(whispering)

You’ll regret leaving me.

I promise.

She walks off into the night.

A storm is coming.

Fade out.
